How to Profitably Lease Agricultural Machinery — the Experience of Zhambyl Farmers
Today, modern agricultural machinery can be leased under favorable conditions — with low interest rates, long repayment periods, and flexible payment schedules. Farmers who have already taken advantage of the support provided by KazAgroFinance JSC shared their experience with journalists during a press tour held in the Zhambyl Region.
Modern equipment in agriculture is not a luxury, but a necessity. Tractors, seeders, drip irrigation systems, and automated harvesters not only replace outdated machinery — they increase yields and reduce labor intensity.
Fleet renewal requires significant investment, but KazAgroFinance JSC is always there to support farmers. Journalists visited the fields of one of the most active beneficiaries of government support — ASPAN Agroholding SPC in the Baizak district of the Zhambyl Region.
"I received my first support back in 2007 — we bought three tractors then. In 2010, we took out 120 million tenge to build a greenhouse. Last year, with the help of KazAgroFinance, we updated our machinery for 100 million. Now we are preparing documents for leasing worth 400 million — for a harvester and ten tractors," said the cooperative chairman Sakha Manatov.
Why not take out a conventional loan? The advantages of leasing are clear: low interest rates, long terms, and a flexible repayment schedule.
"Over 25 years, KazAgroFinance has financed the purchase of equipment worth over 1.6 trillion tenge, including 36 billion in the Zhambyl Region. Support is growing: in 2021, the national volume was 140 billion, in the previous year — 228 billion. In 2025, we plan to reach 250 billion," said Deputy Chairman of the Board Erkebulan Zhumzhaev.
By the end of the year, 7 billion tenge worth of machinery is expected to be issued in the region. As a result, more than 900 farmers throughout the region will receive the necessary support.
"Previously, there were complaints about the complexity of application submission. That’s why, starting in 2025, we introduced an online system: the farmer uploads part of the documents, while the rest are automatically retrieved from government agencies. The review process takes from 1 to 10 days. After approval, the contract is signed, and we purchase the equipment. The farmer always chooses the machinery themselves, and delivery to the fields takes only 30–45 days," explained E. Zhumzhaev.
The most popular program today is “Preferential Leasing” at 5% per annum for up to 7 years. Around 90% of farmers use this program. In 2025, up to 250 billion tenge is planned to be allocated to this direction.
Thus, thanks to the support of KazAgroFinance JSC, over 10,000 units of machinery are delivered annually to Kazakhstani farmers, and regular equipment renewal is the most reliable way to improve agricultural productivity.
