Leasing is a real way out

Many agricultural producers at the stage of business formation are thinking about where to get the initial capital, equipment, seed stock, and so on. Sometimes there is experience in agriculture, and a great desire to work on the land, but everything, as they say, rests on money. Often the enthusiasm ends there. However, you should know that there is a solution, and it is quite simple.

Get rid of stereotypes

At Kakimzhanov Yerlan Sagyndykovich Farm, everything started with two MTZ-80 tractors leased through KazAgroFinance JSC. At first, the possibilities of the farm were modest: hay was harvested, perennial grasses were sown, and the population was provided with feed (the farm is located in the Auliekolsky district). But there was a great desire to expand production and engage in grain production. With two Belarus tractors, of course, such an idea cannot be pulled. The head of the farm, Yerlan KAKIMZHANOV (pictured), understood that nothing would work without updating the fleet of equipment and increasing production capacities. Fortunately, KazAgroFinance JSC's first lending experience turned out to be good: a low interest rate, acceptable conditions, and no difficulties in collecting the necessary securities.

– In agriculture, timeliness is important, – says Yerlan Sagyndykovich, – in order to fully start sowing, to be technically ready for harvesting. It is possible, as some peasants do, to save for years for new equipment. But inflation eats up savings. It is important to defeat the stereotypes that lending is a debt pit and the like. By leasing equipment, you can work at full capacity today, make a profit and be able to repay the loan.

Currently, Kakimzhanov Yerlan Sagyndykovich has eight combines, 16 MTZ tractors, and other agricultural machinery. In 2013, millet began to be grown, followed by barley and wheat. The acreage increased from 3,500 to 8,500 hectares.

There is a dynamic

According to Alibek Karaydarov, Acting director of the branch of KazAgroFinance JSC in Kostanay region, there is a positive trend in lending to agricultural producers in the region. This year, farmers of the region have leased more than 540 units of equipment through the local branch of KazAgroFinance JSC. To date, the number of active borrowers is 662 enterprises.

– The state provides good support to agribusiness, – says Alibek Karaydarov. – Each agricultural producer is subsidized by 25 percent of the cost of equipment purchased on lease. For example, if a peasant farm purchases agricultural machinery in the amount of 10 million tenge, up to 2.5 million tenge is repaid by the state, machinery for agricultural work is issued with a remuneration rate of 17 percent per annum. Of these, 10 percent is subsidized by the state. In addition, it is possible to pay the principal debt once a year, and the interest rate is quarterly.

It should be noted that when opening a non-revolving credit line, documents are submitted only once. Further, within the limit, the agricultural producer can apply at any time convenient for him, for example, before sowing or harvesting, and we immediately provide him with the necessary agricultural equipment. As for the farm "Kakimzhanov Yerlan Sagyndykovich", for seven years the farm has shown itself to be a disciplined, reliable borrower. Of the total loan amount of 440 million tenge, 195 million have already been paid.

– This cooperation is very beneficial for the peasants, – Yerlan Kakimzhanov is convinced. – People say: spring day feeds the year. Due to the fact that we regularly update our equipment fleet, we can perform all necessary field work on soil cultivation in a timely manner. We carry out plowing in spring and autumn. Even in this lean year, thanks to the staffing and the ability to fully carry out agrotechnical measures, it was possible to reduce grain losses.

According to the head of the farm, each new piece of equipment is two new jobs, since people work in two shifts during sowing and harvesting. With the expansion of the agricultural machinery park, the team also grew. Now about 30 people work in the farm on a permanent basis, in the midst of field work their number reaches 45.

Since 2000, KazAgroFinance JSC has invested about 104 billion tenge in the development of the agro-industrial complex of the region. Thus, 6 thousand units of new equipment entered the fields. It is important that when purchasing agricultural machinery for leasing, it is not required to provide collateral, and there are also no commissions. Leasing of agricultural machinery, vehicles and special equipment provides a grace period for repayment of the principal debt up to 1 year.
