A new greenhouse complex in the Almaty region
- “We envision building 15 and possibly 20 hectares of greenhouse space on this site. We will certainly expand”. This was stated by the director of Green Land Alatay LLP Almaz Dautov at a meeting with journalists on the occasion of commissioning of one of the largest greenhouse complexes in Kazakhstan in Almaty region.
As reported, a high-tech greenhouse on 5 hectares started its work in Kapshagai city of Almaty region. Important for the region object is built on Dutch technology and is designed for year-round cultivation of more than 1,000 tons of tomatoes, 2,000 tons of cucumbers and about a ton of salads. In addition to traditional vegetables, the greenhouse will launch a line for growing salad products (dill, parsley, celery and some types of exotic greens). Now the complex is undergoing preparatory work for planting seedlings, as well as activities related to the sanitation of areas.
The total cost of the project is more than 2.3 billion tenge. KazAgroFinance's investment in the promising complex is about 2 billion tenge. The domestic leasing company financed the construction of the greenhouse within the framework of realization of investment projects in agro-industrial complex and formation of food belt of Almaty. Almaty. The project is included in the map of industrialization of Kazakhstan and built under the state program of forced industrial-innovative development (SPFIID).
With regard to financing such infrastructure projects, Almaz Dautov noted that agriculture is a risky industry, and the conditions offered by second-tier banks were very difficult and sometimes crippling for them. Therefore, from the very beginning, this project was counted on financing exclusively through KazAgroFinance.
Today KazAgroFinance is financing the construction of 13 greenhouse complexes of industrial type in the country for a total amount of 11.9 billion tenge and a total production capacity of about 24.1 thousand tons of horticultural products per year and 5 million pieces of seedlings. The total area of these greenhouses is 45.8 hectares. Support of perspective projects is carried out by leasing company within the framework of realization of investment projects in agroindustrial complex of Kazakhstan approved by national holding KazAgro. In this case, to date since 2008 with the financing of “KazAgroFinance” put into operation 8 greenhouse complexes of industrial type, a total area of 27.4 hectares, with a total production capacity of 15.3 thousand tons of vegetables per year. At present, 4 projects involving the construction of greenhouse complexes with a total area of 14.5 hectares are under consideration by the structural units of KazAgroFinance. We are talking about a greenhouse on 2 hectares in Atyrau region, 1.3 hectares in Almaty region and 3.2 hectares in South Kazakhstan region. In addition, the issue of financing a modern complex on 8 hectares in Karaganda region is under consideration.
As for the products to be grown in the greenhouse on 5.1 hectares of Green Land Alatay LLP, Almaz Dautov noted that they are not designed for processing. Vegetables from the complex are intended for consumption in fresh form, as the main goal of the project is to provide the population with fresh quality products, reduce prices in the market, as well as stabilize prices for vegetables during the off-season. At the same time, the head of the greenhouse noted that when reaching full capacity, the new greenhouse complex will be able to meet no more than 10 percent of the market demand in the Almaty region.
According to experts of KazAgroFinance, leasing company within the framework of investment projects will continue to finance promising applications from agro-formations, related, among other things, to the production of horticultural products. It is noted that in addition to large industrial greenhouse complexes in the country is building small greenhouses. Today the national holding KazAgro through JSC “Fund for Financial Support of Agriculture” within the framework of the program of microcredit are erected 50 mini-greenhouses in Almaty region, 104 - in Zhambyl region and 100 - in South Kazakhstan region. By the end of this year it is planned to deliver 50 mini-greenhouses in Aktobe region, 100 - in Zhambyl region and 2 complexes of 50 mini-greenhouses in Kyzylorda region.
According to KazAgroFinance, the average yield of tomatoes, for example, on the closed ground is 400-450 tons per hectare, while the yield of this crop on the open ground is noted in the range of 60-80 tons. Application of new technologies in greenhouse production allows to increase the yield many times. At the same time, the cost of production decreases by 2 times and the use of labor is saved as much. In addition, the technologies implemented now save water and prevent various plant diseases significantly, 2-3 times. In modern greenhouses the processes of preparation and supply of mineral nutrition are fully automated, all technological operations related to soil treatment are excluded.
